2. Welding between Steel to Mild Steel
We here talking about different metal welding work (Dissimilar metal welding joint).
In thermal plant some areas application where we must need to weld two dissimilar metal.
We all know that Mild steel less costly rather than Stainless steel
but in some areas where we need hard and long time rubbing structure we required than we made from stainless steel and for reducing cost of structure we use both material sheet to together Mild Steel sheet and Stainless steel.
For jointing Mild Steel with Stainless steel we use 309 Welding Rod
Application-
We using stainless steel with mild steel structure in coal feeder areas , coal pipe on band, Steel valve welding flange with mild steel etc.
Electrode 309 ESAB
ESAB 309 is specially
designed for the welding of AISI 309 type steels, straight chrome steels
dissimilar steels for e.g. welding
of mild steels to stainless
steels, low alloy steel to
stainless steels etc. It is also used for surfacing and building up of components
to improve its wear resistance.

ESAB 309 is a basic,
all position electrode depositing a 25/12-type weld metal which is
extremely resistant to corrosion and oxidation at elevated temperatures of up to
1100°C. ESAB 309 welds with a very smooth and quite arc in all positions with a
very low spatter. The slag is easily detachable and the final weld bead is
smooth, finely rippled and shiny. Welds are of radiographic quality.
3. Stainless steel to Stainless steel welding rod-
When we going to weld Stainless steel to Stainless steel structure or Mechanical joint generally for this purpose use we use welding electrode E308L
Electrode E308L
E308-16 is designed for welding of the following 18-8 stainless steel types: 301, 302, 304 and 308. The weld deposit has the proper chemical content and balance for satisfactory welding of type 308, and therefore is suitable for welding 18-8 types of lower alloy content. Sound weld metal and corrosion resistance equal to or greater than that of the parent metal are assured.
