Welding joint between Steel to Mild Steel

2. Welding between Steel to Mild Steel

We here talking about different metal welding work (Dissimilar metal welding joint).
In thermal plant some areas application where we must need to weld two dissimilar metal.

We all know that Mild steel less costly rather than Stainless steel
but in some areas where we need hard and long time rubbing structure we required than we made from stainless steel and for reducing cost of structure we use both material sheet to together Mild Steel sheet and Stainless steel.

For jointing Mild Steel with Stainless steel we use 309 Welding Rod

Application-

We using stainless steel with mild steel structure in coal feeder areas , coal pipe on band, Steel valve welding flange with mild steel etc.

Electrode 309 ESAB

ESAB 309 is specially designed for the welding of AISI 309 type steels, straight chrome steels dissimilar steels for e.g. welding of mild steels to stainless steels, low alloy steel to stainless steels etc. It is also used for surfacing and building up of components to improve its wear resistance.

ESAB 309 is a basic, all position electrode depositing a 25/12-type weld metal which is extremely resistant to corrosion and oxidation at elevated temperatures of up to 1100°C. ESAB 309 welds with a very smooth and quite arc in all positions with a very low spatter. The slag is easily detachable and the final weld bead is smooth, finely rippled and shiny. Welds are of radiographic quality.

3. Stainless steel to Stainless steel welding rod-

When we going to weld Stainless steel to Stainless steel structure or Mechanical joint generally for this purpose use we use welding electrode E308L

Electrode E308L

E308-16 is designed for welding of the following 18-8 stainless steel types: 301, 302, 304 and 308. The weld deposit has the proper chemical content and balance for satisfactory welding of type 308, and therefore is suitable for welding 18-8 types of lower alloy content. Sound weld metal and corrosion resistance equal to or greater than that of the parent metal are assured.

Condensate extraction pump in thermal power plant

WHAT IS CEP (CONDENSATE EXTRACTION PUMP) -  This pump is in actual efficiency booster in a thermal power plant. As we all know that very high temperature and pressure steam expands in a steam turbine and this expanded(low pressure and low temp) steam can go waste if CEP doesn't perform it's function. CEP pump circulate the -Condensate(conversion of steam into water in condenser) again into deaerator tank which prevent plant from a huge loss of water. This water can be used for making deaerator level. Condensate Extraction Pump, as the name suggests the CEP is required to extract the condensate from the Condenser. Condenser is the equipment where all the steam gets condensed and the condensate is extracted out of the same by CEPs. so where the Condensate goes after coming out of the condenser, so it goes to the DEAERATOR by moving through a series of LP heaters, where the temperature of the extracted condensate is increased to a certain degree. In deaerator the soluble gases are...

Boiler tube

THERMAL POWER PLANT BOILER TUBES A  water tube boiler  can be defined as a Steam  boiler  in which the flow of  water  in the  tubes , as well as hot gases, enclose the  tubes . Not like fire  tube boilers , this  boiler  attains high-pressures, as well as high-steam capabilities, can be achieved. The  steam  generators of the  660 MW  units would be 100%  coal  fired and would be rated to generate about 2170 t/hr each, of superheated  steam  at about 250 kg/ cm2 pressure and 568°C temperature. Reheat  steam  temperature would also be 568°C. Boiler Erection of Water Tubes...... How do I find a leak in my boiler tube? For detecting  boiler tube  leaks, plant operating engineers constantly monitor  boiler  furnace vacuum, which is maintained between a -10 to -20 mm water column...
